About CertQuiz

Who makes this

CertQuiz is built and maintained by Rizwan Shoaib, an independent software developer who publishes mobile apps and web tools under the name OVC Tech. He is not a certification trainer and holds no vendor instructor credential; CertQuiz is a developer's answer to a practical problem he kept seeing — people blocked from practising for an exam by paid desktop simulators, mandatory signups and software that only runs on Windows. The site has no investors, no staff and no paid tier, and it is treated as a product that is maintained on a schedule rather than a set of pages that were published once.

Every page on the site names him as the responsible author, and the contact page reaches him directly. If something here is wrong, he is the person who fixes it.

Why the site exists

Certification exam prep should not cost a fortune on top of the exam voucher, and it should not require handing a stranger your email address or your study files. CertQuiz runs in the browser, needs no account, and never uploads the files you practise with. The second reason is less obvious: a lot of the free practice material in circulation is leaked live-exam content, which breaks the agreement every candidate signs and can cost them the certification. The site exists to be the other thing — original practice questions and guides that start from the vendor's published objectives.

What we offer

  • Pre-built CompTIA Security+ (SY0-701) and Network+ (N10-009) practice exams — 50 original questions each, every one tagged to one of the five exam domains and carrying an explanation
  • Study guides — objective-level explainers, study schedules and certification comparisons, every one dated and showing when it was last reviewed against the exam objectives
  • A browser-based quiz player — open your own question files (PDF, DOCX, TXT, or unencrypted VCE/VCEX/ETE) or paste questions, and practise without installing anything
  • Study and Timed modes — instant feedback with explanations, or a running clock with explanations held back until the end
  • Domain score breakdown — see which areas are pulling your score down, not just the total

We only list an exam once its question bank is complete, checked and playable. Today that is Security+ and Network+; we would rather offer two exams that work than a grid of “coming soon” cards.

How content is made and reviewed

This section describes the actual process, including the parts that are automated, because readers deciding whether to trust a study guide deserve to know how it was produced.

  1. Topic selection. Topics come from what candidates search for (the queries that already bring people to the site) and from gaps against the official exam objectives. We do not write pages that exist only to carry ads, and we do not write about exam dumps as a product.
  2. Brief. Each guide starts from a written brief: the objective it covers, the primary sources it may cite, the internal pages it should connect to, and a target length.
  3. Drafting with AI assistance. Drafts are written with the help of large language models, working from the brief and a fixed rulebook Rizwan maintains: cite only primary sources (vendor objectives and certification pages, NIST publications, IETF RFCs, MITRE ATT&CK, OWASP), never reproduce or paraphrase recalled exam questions, never claim a question “appeared on the real exam”, never promise a pass or a pass rate, and never state a cut score the vendor has not published.
  4. Automated review before publishing. Every draft then passes three checks: each statistic is compared with the source page it cites and the draft fails if any figure cannot be found there; a quality score with a minimum threshold; and a structure checklist (one topic per page, headings, descriptions, working internal links). A draft that fails any check stays unpublished — several have.
  5. Publication and dating. Published guides show their published date, their last-updated date, and a “last reviewed” date naming the exam objectives they were checked against, with a link to the vendor's official page so you can verify for yourself.
  6. Ongoing maintenance. Rizwan reviews the published site on a schedule: merging pages that have come to overlap, removing claims that cannot be supported, and re-checking exam versions when a vendor retires one. The October 2026 pass, for example, folded four overlapping VCE articles into one guide and added the review dates you see on every post.

Practice questionsfollow the same rules. They are written for CertQuiz to test the published objectives, never recalled from a live exam, and each carries an explanation of why the correct option is right. The Security+ bank is split across the five SY0-701 domains in the proportions CompTIA publishes (12%, 22%, 18%, 28%, 20% — 6, 11, 9, 14 and 10 questions), and that split, along with every answer key and explanation, was last checked on October 20, 2026. The Network+ bank, published the same day, follows the N10-009 weights (23%, 20%, 19%, 14%, 24% — 12, 10, 9, 7 and 12 questions) and every explanation names the objective it tests.

Editorial standards

  • Primary sources only. Exam facts (question counts, time limits, domain weights, prices) are taken from the vendor's own pages and linked to them. If a figure changes, the vendor's page wins and ours is corrected.
  • No exam dumps, ever. We do not host, link to, sell or endorse recalled live-exam questions, and the file player is a tool for material you are entitled to use, not a way around the candidate agreement.
  • No guarantees. No “pass in X days”, no pass rates, no claims about how the exam is scored beyond what the vendor publishes.
  • No competitor claims we cannot support. We describe what CertQuiz does; we do not publish prices or feature claims about other products unless they are quoted from the product's own page.
  • Independence. CertQuiz has no affiliate relationships with training providers or exam vendors and accepts no payment for coverage. The site is funded by advertising, which is labelled as such and has no influence on which topics are covered or what the guides say.
  • Disclosure of how content is produced. Drafts are written with AI assistance and checked automatically; a named person is responsible for the result. We say so on every post rather than implying a newsroom that does not exist.
  • Trademarks. CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, ISACA and other names are used only to identify the exams discussed. CertQuiz is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.

Corrections and contact

If you find an error — a wrong answer, an outdated exam detail, a broken link — email segmentbi@gmail.com or use the contact page. Include the page URL and, for a quiz question, the question text. Corrections are made in the published page and its “updated” date changes so the fix is visible; we do not silently edit. Please do not send questions copied from a live exam.

Feature requests and new-exam suggestions go to the same address. New practice exams are added only when a complete, checked question bank exists, so a request may take time to appear.

How it works — and what it can't do

When you open a file, CertQuiz reads it inside your browser and looks for numbered questions followed by lettered options and an answer line (for example 1. Question… A) … B) … Answer: B). Those become an interactive quiz; nothing about the file leaves your device.

  • PDF — read from the PDF's text layer. Scanned PDFs that are only images of pages contain no text to read, so they won't produce questions.
  • DOCX and TXT — read as plain text; the question / options / answer pattern is what matters, not the formatting.
  • VCE — older VCE files are ZIP archives of question data and open directly. Newer VCE files are encrypted (AES-256) and cannot be read by any browser tool; for those, copy the questions out of your VCE software and paste them into the upload page instead. Our VCE guide has a 30-second test to tell which kind you have.

Your quiz results are kept in your browser's local storage so you can see your progress over time. Clearing your browser data removes them; there is no account to sync them to.

How it's funded

The site is kept free by advertising through Google AdSense, and we use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful. Both may set cookies, which you can decline in the cookie banner; until you accept, ads and analytics run without personalisation. The details are in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

A note on exam dumps

Many VCE files circulating online are “brain dumps” of questions remembered from live exams. Using or sharing them breaks the candidate agreement every certification vendor asks you to accept, and it can cost you the certification. CertQuiz does not host or sell exam questions from live exams. Use the player with practice material you are entitled to, and plan your study from the vendor's official exam objectives — our guide on whether exam dumps are legal explains what the agreement says and how it is enforced.
