What this practice test covers

Questions are drawn from all five SY0-701 domains in roughly the proportions CompTIA uses on the real exam:

• General Security Concepts (about 12%) — CIA triad, zero trust, cryptography basics, change management
• Threats, Vulnerabilities and Mitigations (about 22%) — threat actors, attack types, indicators, hardening
• Security Architecture (about 18%) — cloud and on-prem models, network design, data protection, resilience
• Security Operations (about 28%) — monitoring, vulnerability management, identity and access, incident response
• Security Program Management and Oversight (about 20%) — governance, risk, compliance, audits, awareness

The real exam has up to 90 questions in 90 minutes, including performance-based items, with a passing score of 750 on a 100–900 scale. This 50-question set is for practice: Study Mode explains every answer as you go; Timed Mode hides explanations until the end so you can check your pacing.

How the practice test works

The bank holds 50 questions, each tagged to one of the five domains. Every attempt shuffles the question order and the order of the answer options, so repeating the test does not reward remembering positions. In Study Mode you see whether you were right, plus the explanation, immediately after each answer. In Timed Mode the explanations are held back until you finish, and the timer runs so you can check your pace against the real exam's roughly one minute per question.

The result screen shows your overall percentage and a per-domain breakdown, which is the useful part: a 78% total that hides 40% on Security Operations tells you exactly what to study next. Results are kept only in your browser's local storage (the last 50 attempts) so you can see your trend; nothing is sent to a server and there is no account to create.

Using it in a study plan

Take one attempt cold before you start studying: the per-domain scores show where your time should go, and Security Operations and Threats, Vulnerabilities and Mitigations together make up half of the exam. Then retake it once or twice a week. If a domain keeps scoring under 70%, read the guides for it before the next attempt rather than re-taking the test straight away — repeating the same 50 questions measures memory, not understanding.

Practice questions only show recognition, and the real exam also includes performance-based questions that ask you to configure or analyse something.
